STEWARDSHIP
2007
Number 3
“Multiplying Our Gifts”

As Christ
Multiplied the loaves and Fish
Christ
Multiplies our Stewardship
of Time,
Talent & Treasure
ANNOUNCEMENT:
STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY HAS BEEN CHANGED TO NOV. 19, 2006
esus Christ’s
miracle of the multiplication of the five loaves and two fish given
to him by His Disciples, by which He fed over five thousand people,
tells us that He can also multiply our gifts of Time, Talent and
Treasure to the Church!
Last week, we saw how our Christ
the Savior Church is supported by the many services of Time and
Talent of our Stewards. Very little would be done here without the
giving of lots of hours and many different abilities by our Stewards
and Friends.
But, we also need your
Stewardship of Treasure! Christ the Savior Church must pay for
many things to function. Do you see the vigil lights on the Altar
Table? They burn a special oil which we purchase at a reduced price
– but it still costs us $65 for two and a half gallons. We buy it
twice a year. That $130 comes out of the Stewardship of Treasure.
Our expenses are real and,
unfortunately, increasing. We’ve had, for the first nine months of
the year a very small surplus- just $366 per month. If we had not
been receiving $400 per month as a Mission grant, we wouldn’t have
anything for emergencies!
Your Stewardship of Treasure,
keeps the lights on, pays for air conditioning, the maintenance of
our grounds and buildings, the Priest’s remuneration and auto
allowance, paper and ink for the bulletin and other publications,
cleaning supplies, county fees and taxes and so many more things.
Your Stewardship of Treasure is essential! What will
you declare for your Stewardship of Treasure on Sunday, November 19?
Christ will multiply it!

EPISTLE – Galatians
1:11-19 (20th Sunday)
RETHREN, I would have you
know that the gospel which was preached by me is not man's gospel. For I
did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through a
revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former life in
Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to
destroy it; and I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my
people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. But
when he who had set me apart before I was born, and had called me
through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I
might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with flesh and
blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before
me, but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned to Damascus. Then
after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas, and remained
with him fifteen days. But I saw none of the other apostles except James
the Lord's brother.
GOSPEL – Luke 8:41-56 (7th
Luke)
t that time, there came to
Jesus a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue; and
falling at Jesus' feet he besought him to come to his house, for he
had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying.
As he went, the people pressed round him. And a woman who had had a
flow of blood for twelve years and had spent all her living upon
physicians and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind him, and
touched the fringe of his garment; and immediately her flow of blood
ceased. And Jesus said, "Who was it that touched me?" When all denied
it, Peter said, "Master, the multitudes surround you and press upon
you!" But Jesus said, "Some one touched me; for I perceive that
power has gone forth from me." And when the woman saw that she was
not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in
the presence of all the people why she had touched him,
and how she had been immediately
sembly to add the name of Gus to that of his wife Alice to the hall, so
that it will be known as “The Gus and Alice Marty Fellowship Hall.”
Reports were received from the Nominating Committee, which
was also designated as the Elections Committee consisting of

detailing the plans and describing efforts to sell the property,
followed by the unveiling of the color renditions prepared by our
architect, Alex Nomikos. It was voted (33 yes – 6 no) to
authorize the spending of $30,600 upon the sale of the Olympic Village
Property to initiate the process for the new buildings. Nick Maroulis
