WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT JESUS CHRIST?

Who is Jesus Christ? Where do we find the answer? It comes only from the revelation of God, which we find in the Bible and the teaching of the Church. There are two kinds of witnesses in the Bible that tell us about Jesus Christ. The first are the statements that come from those close to Him. St. Peter said on behalf of the Apostles, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16). He was calling Jesus the anointed one of God, the Messiah, but also, the Son of the Father.
The Apostle John speaks of Jesus Christ calling Him “the Word,” the “Logos” of God: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God” (John 1:1-2). . .  and “all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made” (v. 3). John proclaims the humanity and divinity of Jesus Christ: “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father” (v. 14).
St. Paul in his letter to the Colossians says of Him: “He is the image of the invisible God” (1:15)  . . . “all things were created through him and for him” (1:16) . . .  in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell” (1:19). Even God the Father proclaims "This is my beloved Son" (Matthew 3:17).
The other witness is Jesus Christ Himself, who said, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst” John.6:35) . . . "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John.8:12) . . . “I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved” (John 10:8-9) . . .  “I am the Son of God” (John 10:36) . . . . “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me” (John.14:6).
Who is Jesus Christ? St. Paul tells us: “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. . . . Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:5-11).
That’s why the Fathers of the 4th Ecumenical Council proclaimed, Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully human in one divine/human Person.

EPISTLE – Romans 12:6-14 (6th Matthew) Brethren, having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who contributes, in liberality; he who gives aid, with zeal; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with brotherly affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Never flag in zeal, be aglow with the Spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.

GOSPEL – Matthew 9:1-8 (6th Matthew) At that time, getting into a boat Jesus crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven." And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say 'Rise and walk?' But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" he then said to the paralytic -- "Rise, take up your bed and go home." And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
