50th ORDINATION ANNIVERSARY OF
FR. STANLEY S. HARAKAS
February 1, 1956 – St. Nicholas Cathedral, Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania
__________________________________________________________________________________________
The Parish
Council of Christ the Savior Church, wishing to honor
the 50th Anniversary of the Ordination to the Holy
Priesthood of our Priest, Fr. Stanley S. Harakas, Th.D,
D.D., will do so in a unique way, as a result of an
anonymous donation.
All those on the
Bulletin Mailing List will receive one of Fr. Stanley’s
books with a commemorative label. The book is
Orthodox Christian Beliefs About the Bible: Real Answers
to Real Questions from Real People, which we believe
you will find easy to read, enlightening and inspiring.
This is a fitting
way to honor Fr. Stanley who has served the Orthodox
Church as a Parish Priest and Pastor, a Professor of
Theology for 30 years, Dean of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox
School of Theology in Brookline, MA for 10 years, an
author of 17 books, a newspaper columnist, an editorial
writer, and a well-known lecturer in and outside the
Orthodox Church.
With his permission,
and the cooperation of the publisher, Light & Life
Publishing Co., this book, valued at $20 with handling
and postage, will be sent to you without charge for you
to keep, read, and treasure.
In response, we ask
you to consider making a $50 (or less!) (or more!)
donation to the Building Fund of Christ the Savior
Church as an expression of appreciation for his life of
service to the Orthodox Church in our country. He will
be grateful for your kindness, and we will be a few
steps closer to building our new church and hall, for
the future of our Mission in Hernando County.
You will receive the
book directly from the publisher as close as possible to
February 1, 2006. Included will be a specially marked
envelope for your response. Donor’s names only (not
amounts) will be published in this bulletin in
mid-March. All donors will also receive a letter of
thanks from Fr. Stanley, together with a receipt for tax
deduction purposes. In any case, the book is a 50th
Ordination commemorative gift to you to keep!

EPISTLE – 1 Timothy
1:15-17 (31st Sunday)
imothy, my son,
the saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am
the foremost of sinners; but I received mercy for this
reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might
display His perfect patience for an example to those who
were to believe in Him for eternal life. To the King of
Ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory
to the ages of ages. Amen.
GOSPEL – Luke
18:35-43 (14th Sunday- The Man Born Blind)
t that time,
as Jesus drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by
the roadside begging; and hearing a multitude going by, he
inquired what this meant. They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth
is passing by." And he cried, "Jesus, Son of David, have
mercy on me!" And those who were in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more,
"Son of David, have mercy on me!" And Jesus stopped, and
commanded him to be brought to him; and when he came near,
he asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" He said,
"Lord, let me receive my sight." And Jesus said to him,
"Receive your sight; your faith has made you well." And
immediately he received his sight and followed him,
glorifying God; and all the people, when they saw it, gave
praise to God.
