My beloved in the Lord,
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”
(Romans 15:73)
As we have embarked upon the blessed period of the Christmas Fast in preparation for the His Divine Incarnation, I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I have received the announcement that your community, the Hellenic Orthodox Mission of Hernando County, adopted a new name and will be referred as Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church, celebrating your Feastday on February the 2nd, which commemorates the Presentation of Christ at the Temple.
As the Hierarch of the God-protected Metropolis of Atlanta it gives me great pleasure that you have dedicated your church to our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Shepherd and Savior! I pray that He will guide and enlighten you to use your wisdom, talents, energy and resources in the most productive way. May your labor produce much fruit as you profess your faith, glorifying His Holy name!
Finally, I congratulate all of you and I pray for the continuous success of all your endeavors. May His Grace and Mercy always be with you and your loved ones. With this, I remain,

EPISTLE – Hebrews 13:7-16 (St. Theodosios)

RETHREN, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, when you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years. Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, `They always go astray in their hearts; they have not known my ways.' As I swore in my wrath, `They shall never enter my rest.'" Take care, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we share in Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end, while it is said, "Today, when you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion." Who were they that heard and yet were rebellious? Was it not all those who left Egypt under the leadership of Moses?

GOSPEL – Matthew 4:12-17 (Post-Epiphany)
A
T THAT TIME, Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
