OUR STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE

As Stewards of Christ the Savior Church, we declare for each year, freely and without pressure, what we will give to our church as a Stewardship of Time, Talent and Treasure. Our giving is an expression of our love for Christ and our desire to help accomplish His work through our church community.

The Stewardship of Treasure is a freely given portion of our material blessings for the Lord’s work. Our treasurer, George Nikas, has prepared a six month report, telling us all the state of our Mission Parish finances. Here is what he reports:

SIX MONTH FIANANCIAL ANALYIS FOR 2006 (Un-audited)                         =Operating

Our Per Month Operating  January-June Surplus was $1,118.

If you look at these figures carefully, you will note that we are keeping our head above water -barely. If you subtract the monthly $400 we receive from the Archdiocese Mission Support Program, through our Atlanta Metropolis, our giving allows for a $718 cushion, about 6% of expenses.

Three messages come from these figures for your consideration. 1) we are solvent but need more support;  2) those who have made a Stewardship of Treasure Declaration and have not given it, should send it in as soon as possible; 3) those who haven’t made a Stewardship of Treasure Declaration, please do so now! Call Bill Pasisis, Stewardship Chair-688-7465.

Thanks to all who give and support the work of Christ the Savior Church!

EPISTLE –1st Corinthians 4:9-16 (10th Sunday) Brethren, God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are ill-clad and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become, and are now, as the refuse of the world, the off-scouring of all things. I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you, then, be imitators of me.

GOSPEL – Matthew 17:14-23 (10th Sunday) At that time, a man came up to Him and kneeling before Him said, "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not heal him." And Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me." And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?" He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move hence to yonder place,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you." As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day."

FR. MICHAEL MIKLOS just recently returned from his African Mission Trip to the countries of Tanzania and Uganda. He was one, together with Pani Karen, of 25 persons in attendance at the August 15 Divine Liturgy of the Dormition of the Theotokos. Speaking to the congregation, Fr. Michael informed us of the death of his mother Ann just a few days before his departure for Africa. We were all deeply moved by his words and especially his decision just days after his mother’s funeral to leave for the trip. We offered a Trisagion on behalf of the rest of her soul. May her memory be eternal!
