EPISTLE Acts 1:1-8 (Pascha Sunday) + In the first book, O Theophilos, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. To them he presented himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days, and speaking of the kingdom of God. And while staying with them he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me, for John baptized with water, but before many days you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom of Israel?’ He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.”

GOSPEL— John 1:1-17 (Pascha Sunday) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.  There was a man sent from God,  whose name was John. He came for testimony, to bear witness to the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light. The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not. He came to his own home, and his own people received him not. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. (John bore witness to him, and cried, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, for he was before me.'") And from his fullness have we all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

In the Place of “Axion Esti(Hymnal, 54) the Leaders sing “O Angelos eboa

(Read) The Angel cried out to the one full of Grace: / Hail! Holy Virgin, and again I say, Hail! / Your Son has risen from the tomb on the third day. / Shine, shine, / the New Jerusalem! / For the glory of the Lord has dawned upon You. / Rejoice now and be glad, O Zion; / and You, O all-pure Theotokos, / delight in the Resurrection of Him, / to Whom you gave birth.

In the Place of the Communion Hymn “Praise the Lord,” (Hymnal, p. 66), the leaders sing, “Soma Christou, (Sing) Body of ChristHymnal, 104.

BUILDING COMMITTEE REPORT #20

Building Committee Co-Chairs Paul Cosmadelis and Nikolai Kastelen report the following from the April 3, 2008.

Financial Report and Additional Costs: Paul Cosmadelis gave the financial report

indicating a total of $289,726.71, balanced by expenditures that we will be responsible for beyond the actual construction of the church, offices, and the Marty Parish Hall. These include such things as the paving of the parking lot ($50,000), pews ($26,000), sixteen pieces of ecclesiastical furniture [Altar Table, Pulpit, etc.] ($18,000) and landscaping ($10,000). A fair estimate of the total of these costs is $275,600, unless some are offset by donations.

May 1, 2008 County Hearing: On May 1, 2008 the appropriate offices of the Hernando County Building Committee is holding a public hearing to review the plans of the our new church and hall buildings. Eight offices will present findings regarding aspects of the plans, such as electrical, plumbing and sewage. Paul and Nikolai ask for your prayers that this hearing proceed favorably. Should all aspects be approved, permits will be issued and construction will begin shortly thereafter. If changes are required, the architect will revise the plans and they will have to be resubmitted. The Christ the Savior Building Committee will be represented by William Pasisis, Niko Maroulis and Demetri Hados. Your prayers are requested that this hearing will conclude positively.

Donations List: The Committee is preparing a “Church and Hall Donations List” for Stewards, parishioners and friends to donate to honor loved ones. Please be patient as this list is long and costs have to be determined.

Pew Contract Awarded: After a careful examination of three proposals for the new church pews, the contract was awarded to the Kivetts Company and a 1/3 down payment was made in the amount of $8,612.

Gazebo: The Building Committee voted to purchase a gazebo for our new property as the costs of repair and moving of the present gazebo are prohibitive. It is now in storage until it will be erected on the new property, located behind the corridor next to the parking lot.
